Tim was truly inspirational. In over three years in Eton, I have heard many speakers - both famous and obscure - but non who managed to enthuse their audience quite as much as Tim did.

An evening with two of the UK's top mountaineers. Andy Kirkpatrick has a reputation for climbing in extreme conditions, choosing treacherous routes where the chances of success are low and a safe return questionable. Andy Cave was recently voted one of the top three all round climbers in Britain and has been exploring the remote mountain ranges of the world for the last 20 years. Both men have tremendous stories to tell; of the mountains, the risks, the devastation when it all goes wrong. As much a journey into the mind of an extreme mountaineer as into the wild landscapes through which they have travelled.
“I was engrossed by the way in which you interwove your earlier experiences in school and the coal face with your climbing exploits and, more importantly, how these often-stark experiences shaped your approach to personal organisation, to leadership and to the zen of climbing. I have attended a number of presentations by motivational speakers, not all of them meeting their aspirations. I was blown away by the images that you dismissed with a casual diffidence that I and a number of the audience found both endearing and admirable. Great job Andy! ”

Ian Parnell and Kenton Cool will be teaming up this autumn, touring throughout the UK with their show ‘Vertigo’. Two of the best mountaineers in the UK today, Ian and Kenton have been on many expeditions together, including two expeditions with Sir Ranulph Fiennes to the summit of Everest and the North Face of the Eiger. This time they will teaming up together to talk about their breath-taking experiences of high altitude climbing providing a unique opportunity to hear the awe-inspiring tales of two men who push human endurance to the limit as part of their daily lives. Inspirational, terrifying and entertaining, with superb images of some of the most beautiful mountain ranges on the planet.
Andy Kirkpatrick will be back on the road in October with a new show ‘When Hell Freezes Over’. In this show Andy will focus on his winter expeditions to Patagonia, a treacherous mountain range at the southern most portion of South America, referred to amongst locals as “the eater of men”. No trip to Patagonia is without incident, and Andy’s tales of being trapped on mile high summits in hurricane winds, buried by avalanches, or pushed close to hypothermia whilst lashed to the side of a mountain will have audiences on the edge of their seats. Using words, music and video, Andy will give the audience a taste of what it’s like to go on a major expedition. With his engaging wit, Andy has carved himself a niche as one of the few mountaineers with stand-up talents to rival the best comedy acts in the UK.
“ Kirkpatrick...is one of the most remarkable storytellers I've met…turning tales of near death into philosophical and comic scenarios worthy of Samuel Beckett, or Monty Python ”
Banff International Film Festival 2006
After a successful tour this Spring, Simon Yates will be back in theatres again this autumn with his show Beyond the Void. One of the most prolific exploratory climbers of his time, Simon has been climbing for nearly 25 years, and Beyond the Void is a chance to follow his climbing career from his early encounters with Joe Simpson and their fateful trip to the Peruvian Andes right up to his recent expeditions to the Cordillerra Darwin range in Chile. Simon’s dry wit and laid back approach underplay his tremendous achievements, but his stunning images are a clear testament to this man’s incredible climbing career.
