Everest mountaineer Kenton Cool will be giving a public talk at the Royal Grammar School in Newcastle this February. This fundraising talk, which is jointly in aid of the local Mountain Rescue team and the school's newly established Outdoor Pursuits Group, is being organised by sixth form pupils at the school.
Kenton Cool has an international reputation as one of the world's leading high altitude guides. He has personally reached the summit of Everest six times, and also lead Sir Ranulph Fiennes to the terrifying summit of the North Face of the Eiger in 2007. He has climbed extensively in the Himalaya, the Alps, Greenland and Alaska and has made numerous first ascents to 6000m, as well as being the first Briton to ski down from the summit of an 8,000 metre peak.
