Internationally acclaimed mountaineer and ex-coal miner Andy Cave will be appearing at 13 venues this autumn with his gripping lecture show 'Learning to Breathe'.
Starting out as a miner in the Grimethorpe colliery, Andy’s transition to internationally acclaimed mountaineer is an astonishing tale of tremendous courage and ambition. With his gritty insight into the turmoil of the 1984-5 miner’s strike, Andy’s journey from the blackened grime of the pit to the breath-taking Himalayan summits is both moving and startling. Andy talks about his life including his traumatic expedition to the perilous North Face of Changabang in the Himalayas, during which his climbing partner paid the ultimate price - one of the most stirring tales of modern mountaineering. A tremendous human journey set against a backdrop of stunning images of the Himalaya, Patagonia and Alaska.
