Legendary mountaineer Andy has received great reviews for his 'Learning to Breathe' lecture tour this autumn.
For the last six weeks, Andy has been traveling to theatres around the UK with his moving account of his transition from Yorkshire coal-miner to pioneering Himalayan climber. In true Speakers from the Edge style, Andy's lecture is accompanied by superb audio-visual sections, as one reviewer describes:
"The superb projections of his various ascents accompanying the talk were mesmerising, spectacular and unbelievable, emphasising the true testament of his incredible courage and motivation."
Lynette Watson, Loughborough Echo
In his modest and understated style, Andy gives a "refreshingly honest" description of his experiences of 1984-85 Miner's strike and the realities of life among the some of the highest mountains on Earth.
For many, a highlight of the evening has been his harrowing account of his 1997 expedition to the North Face of Changabang in the Himalyas, where his climbing partner Brendan Murphy was swept off the mountain by a huge avalanche just a few feet from Andy. For others, Andy's remarkable story of his determination to live a life less ordinary among the mountains is a great lesson for us all:
"In an era of unemployment and uncertainty Cave’s message, that you can do what you really want, is inspirational."
Adrian Osmond, Western Mail
There is still time to see Andy Cave, with 3 dates still to go. If you have seen Andy's talk why not let us know what you thought?
