BBC presenter Paul Rose talks about a lifetime of remarkable adventures from Antarctica to Everest via the planet’s last true remaining wilderness - her vast oceans.
A professional diver, polar explorer, mountaineer and yachtsman, Paul is best known for his BBC documentaries Voyages of Discovery, Oceans and Britain’s Secret Seas. From climbing Antarctica's most active volcano to retracing the voyages of pioneers Captain Cook and Ferdinand Magellan, Paul’s adventures have taken him all over our planet. He spent 10 years working for the British Antarctic Survey, regularly leads expeditions across the Greenland Icecap and has made some of the most challenging dives in the world.
In Explore, Paul uses behind the scenes stories and footage from his television programmes to inspire the audience with his spirit of adventure and his passion for the environment. Paul asks the question “Why Explore?” and then makes everyone want to be explorers!
“Michael Wood’s enthusiasm with Ray Mears’ practicality.”

About Paul Rose...
Paul has spent over 40 years exploring the world both on land and sea. Polar explorer, professional diver, mountaineer, NASA assistant and yacht skipper, his expeditions have taken him all over the planet from Antarctica to Everest.
Climbing Antarctica's most active volcano to assist NASA in testing its Mars lander, diving in sub-zero waters looking for near-shore marine biology sites and exploring the remote Mascerene Plateau in the western Indian Ocean are just a few of his adventures. A modern-day explorer, Paul has been “run over” by an iceberg the size of Hyde Park and once had to survive for four days on soup made out of toothpaste.
Paul says; “ I head back to Antarctica in November for my 14th season in support of polar science and I’m very excited about sharing my experiences with you on this UK theatre tour just before I head South!”
Dubbed “the survivalist historian” by The Times, his passion for discovery and exploration have been captured for TV audiences in numerous documentaries. His highly acclaimed BBC series Voyages of Discovery saw him follow in the footsteps of such pioneers as Captain Cook and Ferdinand Magellan. On BBC Two’s Oceans Paul spent a year leading eight voyages to explore the planet’s last true wilderness. His new BBC Two series Britain’s Secret Seas sees Paul exploring closer to home, capturing the stunning marine life and mysterious wrecks just beyond our own shores.
